Vignettes

Long, dusty advance, painfully bruised: erred and
learned, hurt and healed, fought and killed; Detached, alone I
roam; search, no home; Hollow filled with hatred, frustration, and
cold; a hole as black as night, drained me. Agonizing and
examining, a crushing blow was landed; it shook the soul breaking
the man; The Ghost, He fell; driven to knees, then face, my heart
screamed; but peace; You said, “let go”, I struggled, but shhh…
shhh; gentle eyes and gentle hands. Reaching into heart, through
the blackness you touched me; Broken before you, you held me, I
cried, now revived; Life has regained its sweetness; selfless love
leaves speechless. My being I dedicate; one with you, regenerated
and forgiven; Through you I can do all things; mighty, gentle,
merciful, and fun; protected under Your wings; The sun has shined
on my face, I’m in that place I never knew……. Home. © Christopher

Agony pursues me, Pain consumes me, Betrayed by my own heart, Dark
shrouds do wrap me. I drink of your poison, Gladly do I let it
course my veins, Drawn to your deceitful temptations, Left rotting
in my living flesh. No strength to escape, My bones brittle,
muscles fatigued, My heart full of sorrow, My mind……. Broken. I
search in the darkness, I listen for your sweet voice, But I hear,
what do I hear? Nothing…… nothing. © Christopher James Brennan

I see your face, The life we had but a dream, Our future seemed so
bright, Crushed and snuffed out by a thousand nightmares. My home
destroyed, No one to share my pain, I carry it; it consumes me, The
darkness is endless. Hope for what? Where can joy be found? Still I
wander; searching, Lost I travel with my companion, Misery. ©

My split-apart has been taken from me, My trusted companion is far
away, I made a nest the best I could, With scotch tape, sweat,
glue, and tears, It was broken, unstable, And I had used thorn
bushes instead of smoothed twigs My gentle dove was stabbed and
bleeding, She flew away from me, hurt, Searching for another nest,
My chance gone…. My hope gone…. My love not accepted…. Not
enough…. No more. © Christopher James Brennan

The kind heart of my childhood is hidden from me, Eyes covered with
a veil, impossible to see, My bones are broken from the strain of
what’s to be. Is all lost, never gained again? What error, what
fault, what sin? Oh love, torn from heart now lost in darkest glen.
I swear no more; better I will be, Feelings of adoration, painfully
lost, I wish You could see… but You can see, Meaningless life and
false glory, without Grace. It’s my fault, could not bear, the
weight and the strain, This sickness got the better of me, I am
slain, But this spark You now fan in the storm and the rain. Can it
blaze, can I realize Your love for me, again? © Christopher James
